Tom McSherry, MC – President and Founder
Mr. McSherry founded Crisis Preparation and Recovery, Inc. in 1995. He has over 30 years of experience in emergency and disaster services and over 24 years experience in the field of critical incident stress management (CISM). He also served as the Emergency Disaster Services Coordinator for the Western Territory of The Salvation Army for over 8 years.
He has performed hundreds of CISM interventions for private individuals, emergency service personnel, businesses, and non-profit agencies. He has been involved in managing The Salvation Army’s response and recovery efforts in disasters such as earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, a typhoon, wild land fires, tornadoes, air and train crashes, the Columbine High School shooting, and September 11th.
His organization affiliations include: President Emeritus of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, a member of American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, Past President of Arizona Emergency Services Association, and a member of the Association of Traumatic Stress Specialists.
He is an adjunct instructor for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). He is a trainer of 12 different Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) courses nationally and internationally, and has worked with emergency response agencies, schools, and hospitals to develop emergency response plans and CISM teams. He is also a Master Trainer for the Medic FirstAid training program.
He holds a Master of Counseling degree from the University of Phoenix and is a trained mediator.
Michael Boylan, LCSW – Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Boylan has a Masters Degree in Social Work from Arizona State University and has his certification with the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners. Michael has been providing crisis intervention services in a multitude of capacities for the past 16 years. He started his career as a crisis counselor serving a diverse population in New York City in a public elementary school. He moved to Arizona in 1994 and began providing services in the County-wide Mental Health Crisis System and later served as Director of Crisis and Referral Services under ValueOptions in 1998 until 2001. He began his work with Crisis Preparation and Recovery in 2001 as a crisis counselor and currently provides operational direction and program development to CPR.
Drew McSherry, MSEMDT – Chief Operating Officer
Mr. McSherry oversees the day to day operations of the outpatient clinics, crisis services to healthcare providers, and SMI evaluation departments. Mr. McSherry has been with CPR for 7 years and was most recently the Vice President of Operations after starting with the company as Director of Training. He received his masters in Educational Media Design and Technology, and previously taught in public education for 8 years as an Advance Placement Economics teacher and varsity baseball coach.
Dr. Amy Paul, Psy.D – Chief Clinical Officer
Dr. Paul earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. Her Internship and Postdoctoral Fellowship training were in the areas of Neuropsychology and Police Psychology. Her career has focused on the training, wellness, and treatment of First Responders. In addition, she is certified in Critical Incident Stress Management, Crisis Negotiations, and is identified as a Specialty Trainer for AZPOST. As the Chief Clinical Officer at CPR, she provides oversight and guidance on the clinical quality and performance of the Outpatient Clinics, the Evaluations Department, SNF Department, and Clinical Development/Training.
Peter Salazar, MBA – Chief Finance Officer
Mr. Salazar is responsible for overseeing the company’s financial and business functions. He has over 14 years’ experience in the health care industry. His background includes claims/encounters, contract negotiations, financial modeling, healthcare analytics, operations management, provider reimbursement, and strategic planning. Prior to joining Crisis Preparation & Recovery, Inc., Mr. Salazar was the Finance Manager for Magellan, the Maricopa County Regional Behavioral Health Authority.
Mr. Salazar holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business. He also holds dual degrees in Accounting and Informatics from DeVry University and is a veteran of our armed forces.
Tracy Oppenheim, MD – Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Oppenheim M.D. completed her medical school, residency and child fellowship training at the University of Michigan. She is board certified in adult psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry and psychosomatic medicine.
Her clinical interests include psychiatric care of the medically ill and she believes in providing patient-centered care through a multidisciplinary team approach.
